It is a glorious morning. You stretch out of bed and head over to the bathroom to start your day. All is well until you look in the mirror and see an acne spot that has conquered your face overnight. What can be done to prevent those pesky spots from appearing? Here are 5 easy tips that you can implement into your life to avoid acne.

Water serves as a simple remedy to improve your skin. Make it a part of your daily regimen to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day to ensure you replenish your body of any lost water.
Tip #2: Hands Off

Like chewing your fingernails, touching your face can become a bad habit, as germs from your hands will transfer onto your face. Touching your pimples and attempting to pop them or pick at them can also make them appear redder and inflamed while increasing your risk of scarring. Avoid touching your face and make an effort to keep your hands clean to help minimize germs.
Tip #3: Find the Cause

Acne on certain areas of the face can be indicative of other internal problems. Talk to a dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of your acne, since various factors like excess oil production, clogged pores, and bacteria can all contribute to acne breakouts. Be aware of external factors including stress and diet, as they can also be the source of acne. For instance, dairy and high glycemic foods have been shown to worsen acne.
Tip #4: Take the Time

Like any task, you have to give a little to gain a little. Take the time to invest in your skincare routine. From cleansers to moisturizers to treatments, there are a variety of products available on the market and as prescriptions to suit your skin type. Find what works best for you and build a consistent skincare routine that will suit your skin’s needs.
Tip #5: Be Aware

Be aware of what your skin is being exposed to. Oftentimes, something as simple as our cellular devices can be the cause of acne as your face is constantly in contact with it. Take simple measures to clean the surface of phones and other objects that you may be in direct contact with.
